Ardennes Draft Horse A powerful draft horse native to France, the Ardennes is one of the oldest draft horse breeds. Originating in the Ardennes region of France and Belgium, these horses had to be hardy to work the rough terrain which was laden with forests and hills. It apparently descended from cattle stock brought over from the nearby Norman mainland, and was first recorded as a separate breed around 1700. Jerseys are frequently fawn in color. You can see the lighter band around its muzzle and a dark switch (long hair on the end of the tail). The Jersey adapts well to various climates and environments, and unlike many breeds originating in temperate climates, these cows can tolerate heat very well. Measures 5.65" x 3.15". Ages 3+
