Ukrainian Handwarmer Pouch

Ukrainian Handwarmer Pouch

Anyone who's served any time in the not-sandbox can tell you one thing for sure: cold hands are the very bane of your existence. have you ever done anything mechanically demanding with your hands wearing thick gloves, and just ended up taking them off? You'll like this one. The handwarmer pouch in essence became popularized with the tacticool-sphere as soon as navy SEALs were dropped off in unusually Afghanistan. Bought second-hand, hand-warming pouches made for spending long days in a tree-stand became indispensable for long days watching out for taliban. Like your favorite hoodie, the pouch invites both of your hands to warm up in a blanket of fleece. Eventually, mil-contract companies and the like made their own hand-warming pouches, which are, to this very day, perpetually out of stock due to their popularity. With our new manufacturing contacts in Ukraine, and with their certain expertise on the cold, we decided to get some made for ourselves.  The result is a very durable pouch that can and will go with you just about everywhere as soon as the temp starts with '3' or below. It has "T" shaped straps for wearing on MOLLE battle belts, a Velcro flap for sandwiching between a placard on a plate carrier, and of course a waist strap if you just want to wear it fanny-pack style for any non-tactically demanding outdoor situations. It's made with a high-denier cordura-like nylon for extra durability over some of the other options on the market, and it even has a patch field for your favorite degenerate waifu patch front and center. Specs Made in Ukraine "Multicam" (slight color variation) or Olive Drab high-denier nylon construction Classic "fanny pack" style strap or plate carrier & belt mounting options (all included) Fleece lined (comfy) Shock-cord adjustable entries to keep the heat in on colder days Small patch field on front for IFF (or your waifu) Small rear pocket for extra storage Includes waist-strap, velcro panel, and "T" fabric for MOLLE attachment

North Equipment Rhodesian Brushstroke Field Shorts

North Equipment Rhodesian Brushstroke Field Shorts

Who is North Equipment? These new-production Rhodesian Brushstroke garments are manufactured by North Equipment. North is run by a former SADF paratrooper or ‘parabat’, who worked with Johann Niemoller to rekindle Niemoller’s military textile businesses, under the North Equipment brand name. He also happened to be Johann Niemoller's neighbor, which came in handy when he made his bid to restart Niemoller’s garment and webbing businesses after they were mothballed in 1994. With the help of our contacts in South Africa, North Equipment has restarted production on the very same equipment that manufactured Niemoller’s famous ‘Adder’ brand in the 80s and 90s. Adder is best known for their prolific commercial variant of the Rhodesian camouflage print. Which was sold to Executive Outcomes, and various other secret squirrel outfits. The export market to the USA was also huge for Adder, and their uniforms regularly appeared in Solider of Fortune magazine among other places. North Equipment continues this old school legacy with a new print which closely matches ‘2nd Pattern’ Rhodesian Brushstroke, color matched and digitally reproduced from Jaco’s original samples from Rhodesia. The Garments Every part of these uniforms is made locally, And North Equipment spent years setting up the supply chain the way they wanted.  The cotton is sourced from farms in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Malawi. A specialty South African weaving company creates the durable cotton twill fabric, and performs the first dying step to create the distinctive khaki base color. After this the fabric is printed with the characteristic brown and green brushstrokes, before being sewn and assembled on Niemoller’s old tooling. Outside of genuine articles from the Bush war, this is just about as authentically made as it gets. Your purchase directly supports passionate Africans working to bring back some of the coolest clothing and equipment from the Cold War. The garments are based off of uniform sets widely manufactured by various contractors during the Bush War, with the same classic features & generous cut which will keep you looking as sharp as a rooikat's fangs.  Specs Heavy weight 100% Cotton Twill, Sourced From South Africa & Zimbabwe Sewn & Dyed in South Africa Closely Replicates original "2nd Pattern" Rhodesian Brushstroke Button closure belt/suspender loops Double buttoned fly Two unbuttoned hip pockets One auxiliary cargo pocket Side adjustments to dial in the waist Reinforced seat Short inseam — have you SEEN those historical photos?

Pattern 84 Mag Placard

Pattern 84 Mag Placard

In 2021, we took it upon ourselves to do a major redesign of the P83 Chest rig to give it the upgrade it deserved, which we then dubbed the "Pattern 84". Since its introduction we've used our rig extensively in order to figure out what design improvements we would like to implement. Most importantly, this iteration focused on customer feedback first.  While we're far from believing the chest rig is a dying breed, in fact, we think it's more popular than it's ever been. But we just can't ignore the real juggernauts of tactical gear industry. Everyone has a plate carrier. And what better place to use the universal mag pouches from the P84 2.0 Chest rig... Multi-Platform The P84 Placard features heavily reinforced magazine pouches with elastic retention, overbuilt closures, and ample drainage.Fully compatible with magazines from nearly every semi-automatic rifle in common use — no inserts or addons needed. Both sides of the Placard feature small utility pouches, perfect for multitools, compact folding knives, and double-stack 9mm pistol mags. Bombproof Construction Heavy bartacks, reinforced closures, and slick Cordura nylon keep your equipment secure even in the most adverse conditions. Every hook-and-loop contact area is overbuilt, and all load bearing areas are reinforced with machine sewn bartack stiches. P84 Placard is roll, slide, and drag-proof.  Mission Configurable The placard is swift clip compatible (and somewhat Crye compatible as well) using its adjustable height buckles and Velcro one wrap straps. The rig is also fully 'dangler' compatible thanks to a hook and loop pocket underneath the magazine cells. Specs 1000D Cordura NIR Compliant Cordura Nylon Construction Heavily reinforced stitching Drainage ports in all pouches  "Dangler" Pouch Compatible Accepts an enormous variety of rifle magazines without special inserts or adjustable shock cords. 100% AK, AR-15, AR-10, SCAR compatible Magazine flap angles to reduce snag hazard and improve looks, easy to grab with gloves thanks to flap-tip inserts

Republic of South Africa - Unconventional Warfare Complete Book Set

Republic of South Africa - Unconventional Warfare Complete Book Set

Books are expected to ship August 25th-29th. The South African Border war went on for over 23 years involving everything from local policing all the up to armored engagements and almost everything else in between. Given our robust history importing South African Defense Force Surplus, we figured it was high time to add some more depth to the interesting history of the South Africans strategy for conducting war.  The Cold War was not cold for South Africa. While most of Europe was playing an elaborate game of ‘who-has-the-most-nukes’, the South African Defense Force (SADF) was hard at work fighting the counter insurgency battles of the future. In the process, they developed and refined much of the tactics, weapons, and equipment used today. In the 1960s and 1970s South Africans were involved in three major counterinsurgency wars in Sub Saharan Africa: The Congo Crisis (‘60-65), the Rhodesian Bush War (‘64-79), and the Border War (‘66-90). Each of these conflicts were a unique combination of policing action, counterinsurgency and full-scale warfare. The South African Border war was known for its daring cross border raids by its elite counterinsurgency units such as the infamous “Recces”, its particularly brutal and effective policing unit called “Koevoet” and the success of its armored Ratel IFV against T-55s tanks. The Republic of South Africa developed a rather robust and informative series of military pamphlets regarding how to effectively fight these conflicts. Which means it’s the perfect vetting tool, simply place it on your coffee table and see if the new ‘based’ friend you invited over truly lives up to his claims. Published by the Chief of the Army Headquarters Defense Headquarters in September 1972 this formerly restricted publication is an excellent read for the burgeoning insurgent and counterinsurgent alike (see disclaimers). Part 1: Doctrine and Legal Aspects Primarily focuses on the correct application of doctrine by defining what terrorists are along with how to interact with both terrorists, terrorist sympathizers and civilians. Included are examples of appropriate use of force and balancing providing security and safety for the populace while also avoiding infringing on their civil liberties. Part 2: Unconventional Warfare in Urban Areas Focuses on applying the correct level of force regarding different scales of civil disturbances and how best to approach them from a police perspective and a military perspective. Additionally, there are detailed maps and schematics of how to effectively set up an urban checkpoint or electrify the exterior of your armored vehicle to prevent unwanted passengers. Part 3: Unconventional Warfare in Rural Areas Concerns the more typical guerilla warfare scenarios in a rural environment. From reacting to ambushes, planning ambushes and effective use of artillery, tanks and other supporting assets. It also includes sections devoted to bush survival techniques and proper kit to carry on your person. Involving everything from how to successfully win hearts and minds by guaranteeing citizens safety and civil liberties to appropriate use of force when confronted with rioters all the way up to how to successfully evade and conduct an ambush. It is both equally applicable in modern insurgencies and counterinsurgencies today.  A perfect addition to your living room coffee table and your “Live, Laugh, Long live Rhodesia” decoration on your wall.  Specs Reprint of Genuine SADF "Restricted" Books 6" x 8" x 1.25-1.75 " per volume Uses high quality scans to preserve the type-writer style font and crisp clarity.  All pages have been updated by hand to have a uniform font weight and formatting for easier reading. The 'Heat' Rig

The 'Heat' Rig

A Cult Hit, Reimagined Michael Mann's HEAT (1995) immediately gained a cult following on release. Its unique gritty and grounded approach bucked a decades-long trend of formulaic action films, exposing audiences to realistic military and police tactics. A combination of great direction, talented actors, and qualified technical advisors (ex-SAS) made the film's climactic bank heist one of the most memorable scenes of the 90s. This nearly 15-minute-long sequence made HEAT a cinematic legend. Shot in downtown LA, an easy score quickly escalates into a claustrophobic mess of a shootout. Expert gun-handling, booming on-location audio, and a huge cast of supporting firearms all help to make an unforgettable impression. This short sequence would inspire popular culture and media for generations to come. The Vest One of the things that helped HEAT feel authentic were the props. The ex-SAS advisors employed by the production had quite literally been there and done that, and this prowess was reflected in the improvised equipment and tactics featured on screen. This includes the single most iconic prop of the film, the 'Heat' rig; an improvised vest capable of hiding 8 STANAG magazines underneath a suit jacket. Being inconspicuous was important to the characters in HEAT — to pull of their plan, they needed to waltz into a busy, guarded bank with hundreds of rounds of ammunition and rifles without anyone batting an eye. The vests were cool and certainly believable, but there's a big problem. You never quite see them get used as much as they're shown off. The Heat rigs magically pop on and off of the characters as convenient, the magazines are perfectly retained since they're stitched on, and many of the shots betray other glaring issues. We can't blame them; every production has to make some concessions. But in a market ravenous for a working clone of the Heat rig, many copies of this prop fell flat. We wanted to fix that.   The Heat Rig Make no mistake - our rig is an homage to the movie HEAT. It's not meant to compete with other "bank robber" chest rigs on the market. What we set out to do was to make the vest from the movie real and useable.    Magazine Compatibility   Now for the first question most people are going to ask — what kind of magazines fit in the rig? The movie depicts standard USGI STANAG magazines for the AR-15 platform, and we built our elastic retention system around that. Nearly all standard capacity AR-15 magazines should fit without issue, including popular polymer mags from leading brands.   However, we can't guarantee fit of magazines from other platforms. You're welcome to try of course, but we can't provide any guidance there. Each mag cell features two thick straps of elastic for retention and nylon straps on either end to ensure magazines stay in place. On one end of each mag cell, there's a small hook & loop fastener to access magazines. Simply twist the magazine and pull out, and you're ready to reload.   Sizing & Fit  Our heat rig uses a simple & effective adjustment system. Large straps with hook and loop fields make it easy to adjust the vest to fit perfectly. Our rig fits bodies big & small, and our sizing system is simple — either go with your US shirt size or measure your abdomen, that's it (for more specifics, see our sizing chart or feel free to email us at help@kommandostore.com and we'll get you fitted). It may take some trial and error to refine your fit. If you have difficulties, we suggest different jackets & raising/lowering the rig. We cover this topic in our overview video, which we highly recommend watching for troubleshooting your rig.   Quality The last big issue we wanted to address with the rig was quality. We've seen a few examples of both 'bank robber rigs' and other HEAT-inspired equipment on the market. All are plagued by cheap hardware and even cheaper materials, resulting in a disappointing Halloween costume feel. Our rig is 100% made in the US with 100% US made materials. From the custom-run structural mesh to the heavy-duty zipper, we ensured that our rig is everything it should be. Specs: Custom, semi-stiff resin finished polyester mesh fabric Milspec elastic, webbing, and hook and loop Locking YKK Zipper 100% US made, 100% US materials   We've got your back By ordering the 'Heat' rig, you're placing a 100% refundable deposit on our incoming inventory. If you change your mind before it ships, just reach out to us and we'll cancel your order. And of course, once your rig is delivered it's covered by our standard 30 day return policy.

Arktis Jaeger Chest Rig

Arktis Jaeger Chest Rig

Another extremely popular customer demand - bring a Russian rig from a bygone era of plentiful Russian surplus & easily accessible online purchasing, back to the west. And so we did. Along with our efforts to clone the SSO SMERSH with Arktis UK, we also teamed up to tackle the Jaeger chest rig. Stretching all the way back to the "Chicom" rig of the late 50s, the forces of communist China & Russia were just a tiny bit ahead in the chest rig game in comparison to countries of the west - and with it, the tactics were also just a tiny bit ahead. Troops could be equipped with less and engage at a higher tempo. Whether insurgent forces in the jungles of Vietnam or VDV paratroopers, a chest rig and an AK dominated communist forces for decades.  The Russian interest primarily came from the very Chicom rig that started it all — whether producing their own canvas models after using the Chinese variety or eventually improving upon it with the first pattern "lifchik" chest rig for the AK74 in the late 80s. Around this time, much of the world was starting to move away from the use of cotton canvas and more towards nylon and Velcro. With the fall of the Soviet Union & reorganization of Russia's military, much development in the nylon department also ensued with the introduction of new rigs across the board. CORDURA-like nylon replaced canvas rigs for its durability & water resistance, which took their rigs from good enough to ones you can trust for an extremely long duration in the field. SSO, the well-known gear producer behind the SMERSH webbing most people are familiar with also developed the "Latzutchik" and "Lazutchik M" or "Scout" rigs. Taking many notes from various late 90s/early 2000s rigs like the Rhodesian recon vest and British chest rigs tracing their lineage all the way back to the South African P83 system. This is also evident in the design of the "SPLAV" pioneer chest rig with its large Velcro flaps & elastic mag-keeping. Many of these rigs incorporated a highly upgraded X Harness, MOLLE/PALS style webbing, and a simple layout that kept all the essentials while still allowing for a belt to be looped through.  But where does Jaeger come in? At some point during the process, the rig was refined to be simpler to construct. Spanish styled buckles for pouches (likely inspired by the British PLCE system) were slowly replaced with snaps & Velcro, and the MOLLE webbing was constrained to the body of the rig. The pouches are reminiscent of ALICE with their combination snap-and-Velcro closure much like the SMERSH, and we think it's the best "Companion" rig to go with SMERSH because of it's familiar pouch design.  Jaeger unfortunately suffered much of the same fate of many other Russian webbing systems - hoarded by collectors, overpriced on the used market, or only available through sketchy avenues. We've brought it back out of obscurity with upgraded QC so it'll last yet another cold war... Features Snap/Velcro closure Magazine pouches with removable inserts "Flare" pockets on each side of the main magazine cell cluster. Wide shoulder harness straps with padding at the shoulders for all-day comfort Detachable MOLLE-Style grenade pouches included with rig Internal map pocket with drawcord-attached map pouch Drainhole grommets in all pouches Large sturdy waist buckle Metallic, Spanish style quick doffing buckles on shoulder straps Waist belt loops for attaching accessory load bearing belt (not included) Specs 500D Cordura Nylon Construction Color-matched Russian "Olive" colorway Intended for use with AKM Magazines MOLLE re-locatable grenade pouches NIR Compliant fabrics to reduce visibility under night vision Same Polymer & Metal buckle combination as original SSO Jaeger Rig Quick releasing buckles for fast doffing Waist & Height Adjustable from approximately US Size XS-2XL   Sizing Notes The primary bottleneck on any chest rig is how big it's waist belt can get — the Jaeger rig can extend from 26" to 46" or from a US XS to a US 2XL. When it comes to heights, the shoulder harness has plenty of room for adjustment for users who fall in that same spectrum of US T-Shirt sizes so Rest assured that it's as one size fits all as we could possibly make it.

Ukrainian Tactical Sitting Pad

Ukrainian Tactical Sitting Pad

If you've ever had the displeasure of riding in any soviet vehicle, you'll know exactly what these are for — literally saving your A**  The "tactical" sitting mat has been around in some shape or form just about everywhere, but in the soviet military it became especially useful in cold, cramped vehicles with poorly designed seating during the cold war. Ever since then, several outdoor companies in Eastern Europe and China have been manufacturing these like mad since those vehicles in question didn't really get any comfier over the years.... Much like the tall tale of the 'Space Pen' the west has come up with a litany of overengineered ways to make sitting a chore with a special tool required. Those who lived beyond the iron curtain instead realized: just strap some foam to your rear end and be comfy wherever you might be sitting down. As with most things that look about as silly as your dad's batman-esque tool utility belt, the functionality here is absurdly amazing. Beyond vehicle use, this makes any spot on the ground a comfortable place to have a rest and have it not be colder than the snow on a polar bear's fur. It makes kneeling or shooting position shooting very comfortable, and you can un-strap the whole thing and use as a pad for your elbows when you're prone. The pad goes wherever your badonkadonk goes and slips into any 3-day-plus pack with ease. You don't have to be Hank Hill to enjoy something like this... The sitting pad features a system of straps: some for attaching to your belt and a hip-strap with shock cord to flex with your body as you move — a welcome addition compared to the 'SSO' type with only a nylon strap for the waist. In addition, the foam is replaceable so you can DIY your own insert after the included one has worn out, or upgrade right off the bat. The supplier of the pads we've worked with to bring this popular piece of kit back is out of Ukraine, and you can tell with a post-soviet expertise in covering your can. The three colorways have a distinct difference in the fabric: The Olive Drab is made using a classic olive Cordura, and the MM-14 and Ukranian MTP a water-resistant sublimated nylon. And that water resistance is more than welcomed, nobody likes finding out a bench is wet with their behind.  Specs Made in Ukraine One hip belt size fits most 13.75" x 10.5" x 0.75" - About the size of a 14" laptop, fits in laptop pockets! Water resistant 500D nylon construction (Plain is a traditional style, the camos are sublimated print on an oxford nylon). Removable foam insert Nylon straps with fastex-style plastic buckles for attachment to belt kit & hips Shock-cord on hip belt keeps the pad in the right spot as you move Doubles as a shooting mat for your elbows while in prone position Makes any soviet vehicle tractor-tier seat oddly comfortable Fully endorsed by Hank Hill

Pattern 84 Chest Rig 2.0

Pattern 84 Chest Rig 2.0

In 1983, the first well-known modern chest rig was made somewhere most people wouldn't expect — South Africa. Developed during a time of canvas and metal fittings the SADF's "Pattern 83" brought new materials like Cordura, Velcro, nylon webbing, and plastic buckles to the forefront of military kit. It went on to inspire chest rig designs for generations to come... Including our own. In 2021, we took it upon ourselves to do a major redesign inspired by the original to give it the upgrade it deserved, which we then dubbed the "Pattern 84" chest rig. Since it's introduction we've used our rig extensively in order to figure out what design improvements we would like to implement. Most importantly, this iteration focused on customer feedback first. Multi-Platform P84 features heavily reinforced magazine pouches with elastic retention, overbuilt closures, and ample drainage.Fully compatible with magazines from nearly every semi-automatic rifle in common use — no inserts or addons needed. Versatile Pouches General purpose pouches with large hook and loop contact areas allow both small and oversized items to be safely secured — everything from radios, IFAK items, and GPS devices, to smokes and can even fit additional magazines in a pinch. Both sides of the rig feature small utility pouches, perfect for multitools, compact folding knives, and double-stack 9mm pistol mags. Neat & Tidy Native compatibility with coms and hydration allows for smart, clean routing of your cords and tubes. Our implementation is simple and unobtrusive. It's there when you need it and out of the way when you don't. Bombproof Construction Heavy bartacks, reinforced closures, and slick Cordura nylon keep your equipment secure even in the most adverse conditions. Every hook-and-loop contact area is overbuilt, and all load bearing areas are reinforced with machine sewn bartack stiches. P84 is roll, slide, and drag-proof. Mission Configurable The rig comes complete and fully featured out of the box. But if you need to attach extra equipment, you have plenty of options.Pattern 84 features laser-cut MOLLE webbing on each wing. These low-weight, low bulk laminate panels lay flat when not in use and prevent snagging on slings, straps or equipment. The rig is also fully 'dangler' compatible thanks to a hook and loop pocket underneath the magazine cells. P84 2.0 differences We got overwhelming feedback from our customers to opt for a much more modular solution when it came to the harness. We designed an ergonomically-shaped H-Harness from the ground up, but you can use any harness you want. In moving the clips closer together for harness compatibility, it also holds the front of the rig flatter against your chest in comparison to P84. Another point of customer feedback was the desire to remove the dividers in the pouch for magazines. In our testing, we found out they did more harm than good, so we've removed them and dialed in the elastic retention to perform just like P84 1.0's cells without the snags. P83's shape was large enough to allow errors during manufacturing, but even with modern tech we used its footprint as the basis for P84. For 2.0, We decreased the overall height dimension of the chest rig without compromising on the size of any of the pouches or useable MOLLE Space. The main mag cell flaps now feature an angle-cut at the bottom to reduce snag hazard and frankly just look a whole lot cooler. We ditched the "Pen Flare" pouch taken from P83 and mirrored the multitool pouch to the other side for much more utility & extra storage. Specs 1000D Cordura NIR Compliant Cordura Nylon Construction Heavily reinforced stitching Custom-run mesh backing for breathability Drainage ports in all pouches  "Dangler" Pouch Compatible Back map/field note pocket Accepts an enormous variety of rifle magazines without special inserts or adjustable shock cords. 100% AK, AR-15, AR-10, SCAR compatible NEW: Ergonomically designed, ride-height-adjustable, "H" Harness with rear Velcro field included, rig accepts most aftermarket H-harnesses on the market.  NEW: Removed magazine pouch divider to allow for easier re-indexing of all magazines NEW: Slimmer profile for even higher mobility NEW: Magazine flap angles to reduce snag hazard and improve looks, easy to grab with gloves thanks to flap-tip inserts
