In 2020, the US Navy officially commissions the surface warfare officer jacket, assigned to all Naval officers in training at the SWOS (Surface Warfare Officers' School) based in Newport, Rhode Island. The Legendary Newport Navy SWO Surface Warfare Officer Jacket is designed in black 3.0 oz. (1.2mm) military spec cowhide leather for daily use and abuse. The new design offers civilian-friendly side entry pockets for additional cargo, and is available in Small-Medium-Large-XLarge-2XL sizes for civilian use. Very similar to the US Navy G-1 Flight Jacket, but with full leather collar instead of fur.
