Pineapple Ground Cherry (Heirloom 75 Days)

Pineapple Ground Cherry (Heirloom 75 Days)

It really tastes like a pineapple! The large spreading plants are 3 feet across and covered with hundreds of fruit that are quite different from other tomatillos. They are only about 3/4 inch in diameter and soft so they are great for eating fresh. They fall from the plant when ripe. The Pineapple Ground Cherry is great for preserves and pies.    40 seeds   PLANTING Physalis pruinosa Germination: 10-25 days Germination Temperature: Optimum soil temperatures 75-85ºF. Cooler soil temperatures increase germination time. Seed Sowing Depth: ¼” deep Starting Indoors:  8-10 weeks before the last frost. Sow in flats/cells/pots. Provide 75-85ºF soil temperatures. Fertilize the seedlings every 7-10 days with a liquid or water-soluble fertilizer (diluted to ¼ of the suggested measurement). Transplant seedlings 24” apart after the last frost. Sowing Outdoors: Not recommended, especially in northern areas How much does a packet plant: 20-25 foot single row   Harvest: The fruits must be fully ripe to eat. Fruits are golden in color, covered in a papery husk and will fall to the ground when they are ripe. They have a shelf life of 3-4 weeks after harvest. Tips: The Pineapple Ground Cherry should be planted in fertile soil, and amended with compost if needed. It helps to use row cover early in the season, giving the plants extra warmth, especially in the north. Side dress when flowers begin to form. Place some type of cloth under the plants for an easier harvest.

Fennel

Fennel

Fennel is a semi-hardy perennial making it through the winter here about 50% of the time. This variety is grown for its leaves and anise-flavored seeds and can grow up to 4-6 feet. These decorative fern-leaved plants can be started indoors or out and grown as an annual in colder parts of the country. Plant toward the edges or borders of vegetable gardens. Fennel is said to not be a good companion when planted too closely with other vegetables, especially beans, tomatoes, dill, and carrots.   50 seeds   PLANTING Foeniculum vulgare Tender Perennial, zones 6,7-10 Germination: 7-14 days Germination Temperature: Optimum soil temperatures 65-70ºF Seed Planting Depth:  Sow ¼” deep Starting Indoors: Start indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost. Provide 65-70ºF soil temperatures.  Using peat, cow, or paper pots can help with the stress of transplanting, they grow delicate roots and successful transplanting may be challenging. Transplant after the last frost, 6-8” apart. Sowing Outdoors: Mid-spring when the soil temperature reaches 60-65ºF. Sow seeds close,  1-2" apart, thin to 6-8” apart. Growth Habit: Upright, branching Height and Width: 36-48” x 18-24” Spacing: 6-8” apart Light Needs: Full sun  Soil Needs: Fennel needs average to fertile, well-drained soil  Flowering: Mid to late summer, 65-70 days Harvest: Start when the plants are 8-12”, picking leaves as needed. Collect seeds when umbels turn from green to brown and before they shatter to the ground. Place in a paper bag until they are fully ripened and dry. Uses: Culinary, medicinal, flower gardens beds and borders, filler for flower arrangements, flowers attract butterflies, bees and beneficial insects Care: Water well during prolonged dry periods in summer. Removing flower stalks helps keep the plant producing leaves for a longer period. Fennel reseeds easily in mild climates,-removing flower heads helps decrease next season volunteers.  Providing support can help when the plants get tall. Can be grown in containers.

Needless to say, I got one myself too. It’s a great fit for: Home-office tea-making; Picnic/travel tea-making; Tea friends with less space for storing tea equipment; Tea Party Size? This set is best for personal use or with one partner (1-2 people).   @yourteaguy Would you the cup pot combo? #tea #teatime #celtics #basketball #teapot #happytime #jessesteahouse ♬ Pieces (Solo Piano Version) - Danilo Stankovic       Save on tea with this teapot! Purchase the pot and sampler combo from the drop-down menu above to save $5 on a tea sampler! Jesse’s Review: This cup-pot combo is straight-up a great way to make tea. It’s very practical and yet the results are still top-tier. If you don’t have the space, time, or energy for a full Gongfu-style tea set, this is for you. I keep one of these on my desk at home in case I need to really get work done and can’t do the whole tea ceremony, and I also have a second set just for traveling and taking to friends’ houses. One note - because this set doesn’t come with a pitcher, you need to be sure to only add as much water as you need to drink your next cup. Otherwise, you will be left with extra tea inside the pot which keeps over-steeping. Don’t Forget Your Tea Pets! It’s not gongfu tea time without a tea pet! Check out the tea pets and add one to your order!   Jesse's Quality Guarantee! When I started this shop, I wanted to find a way to take care of tea friends in a way normal online shops wouldn't.   That's why I will replace any defective items for free.
