Lignum Vitae Dimensional Lumber

Lignum Vitae (Bulnesia sarmientoi) heartwood is dark greenish brown to almost black and sharply demarcated from the pale yellow or cream-colored sapwood. The texture is very fine; grain is strongly interlocked; a slight scent is evident when warmed or rubbed. It has a characteristic oily feel due to the resin content that may be as high as one-fourth of the air-dry weight making it difficult to glue. With sharp tools and patience, it turns well but due to its high resin content, sandpaper will quickly clog up. The resin is also responsible for its poor gluing properties and synthetic glues will get the best results. 22" x 48" Threaded Slab Flattening Router Mill

The TrueTrac 22" x 48" Threaded Slab Flattening Router Mill is designed specifically to be able to handle large area planing operations. Easily flatten large slabs, table top glue-ups, epoxy resin counter or table tops, or other large projects that don't easily fit into standard floor model equipment for a much lower cost. The Manual Feed allows the user to directly push the router back and forth across and down the length of the slab, providing more movement control. For use with a standard 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 HP router and a 1" to 3" diameter router bit, not included. With the addition of the Threaded Cross Feed to the base system you now have the ability to easily index your router across the bridge, which allows you the unique ability to pin the router in place and cut with the grain of the project rather than going cross-grain. Doing it in this manner drastically reduces the number of passes required to complete a project and results in a much more consistent surface, requiring less finish sanding.
