Java Fern (Microsorum pteropus) on 3+ inch Driftwood

Java Fern (Microsorum pteropus) on 3+ inch Driftwood

Java Fern is one of the hardiest, most versatile aquarium plants, and we are glad to offer it already attached to a driftwood piece! Java Fern (Microsorum pteropus) is an attractive, popular, and low-maintenance plant for the freshwater aquarium.  Its long, bright green leaves provide a beautiful aquascape as well as important refuge and grazing areas for shrimp and fish as well as their fry.  Unlike many plants, Java Fern attaches itself to and propagates on aquarium décor.  We offer this exquisite plant attached to an attractive 3+ inch driftwood piece which can be placed anywhere in the aquarium. Java Fern is relatively slow-growing, at least initially.  It only requires low to moderate lighting and nutrient rich water, although its growth rate can be increased through CO2 injection/supplementation.  It reproduces through rhizome division and the production of offshoots, and it thrives in most areas of the aquarium.  Java Fern should not be planted with its rhizome (roots) buried in the substrate because it will rot and recede.  Due to its delicate leaves, it should not be housed with large crayfish, medium to large cichlids, goldfish, or any other animals that are prone to excessively picking at plants. Like most plants, Java Fern will benefit from supplementation such as Seachem Flourish, Flourish Excel, nitrogen and other plant supplements. No aquarium plant distributor/nursery/wholesaler/retailer can or will guarantee their plants to be 100% snail free. We cannot guarantee our plants will be snail free.   What We Like About This Plant: Attractive bright green leaves Thrives when attached to driftwood or rockwork Extremely easy care Requires low to moderate lighting Care Guidelines: Temperature: 60° - 83° F (15° - 28° C) pH: 5.5 - 8.0 Lighting: Low to moderate Origin: Indigenous to Southeast Asia, cultivated in Taiwan nurseries Aquarium placement: Middle to background Care: Easy to moderate All Aquatic Arts brand plants and animals come with a 100% live arrival guarantee, plus free email support!

Jungle Vallisneria (Vallisneria americana), Bunch w/Lead

Jungle Vallisneria (Vallisneria americana), Bunch w/Lead

Jungle Vallisneria is an incredibly hardy background plant that can grow to an impressive height! Jungle Vallisneria (Vallisneria americana) is a very attractive, yet hardy and undemanding plant that is ideal for the larger aquarium. It is one of the most long- and often-kept plant species in the aquarium hobby due to its ease of care and durability. It is a perfect background plant that will grow all the way to the top of the aquarium and it propagates prolifically. It is one of the few plants that can tolerate brackish water, although it will not grow as quickly under these conditions. Jungle Vallisneria is a member of the tapegrass plant family. It can grow several feet tall and it provides valuable refuge for timid fish and fry, which will actually encourage those shy species to venture into the open more often. Jungle Vallisneria should be planted with its crown above the substrate. It will establish strong roots and is unlikely to be uprooted by bottom-dwelling fish. Its leaves should not be trimmed, as they will typically rot and fall off when damaged. Please Note: This plant will sometimes shed its leaves when transported into a new aquarium. It is usually still alive in this state and should not be discarded. It will typically grow new, stronger leaves rather quickly if it is planted and allowed to acclimate.  Jungle Vallisneria does not require CO2 supplementation or overly high lighting. It prefers slow-moving, hard water that is rich in calcium, but it is highly adaptable to most water parameters. It will grow fastest under high lighting, but it can adapt to moderate lighting as well. It is very flexible and will even grown in sand, but of course will grow faster in nutrient-rich substrate. Like most plants, Jungle Vallisneria will benefit from supplementation such as Seachem Flourish, Flourish Excel, iron, potassium, nitrogen, and other plant supplements. No aquarium plant distributor/nursery/wholesaler/retailer can or will guarantee their plants to be 100% snail free. We can not guarantee our plants will be snail free. What We Like About This Plant: Tall growth that is ideal for larger aquariums Very easy to propagate Provides a great deal of cover for animal fry Very hardy and durable   Care Guidelines: Temperature: 64° - 82° F (18° - 28° C) pH: 6.0 - 9.0 Lighting: Moderate to High Origin: Indigenous to North, Central, and South America, cultivated in US nurseries Aquarium placement: Background Care: Easy   All Aquatic Arts brand plants and animals come with a 100% live arrival guarantee, plus free email support!

Water Wisteria (Hygrophila difformis)

Water Wisteria (Hygrophila difformis)

Water Wisteria (Hygrophila difformis) is a surprisingly attractive, yet hardy and undemanding plant that is ideal for the larger aquarium.  Cuttings from this plant, including just a single leaf, can grow into an entire new plant.  When it fully matures, its leaves provide extensive foliage that is very suitable for the background of the aquarium.  It can also be weighted and placed on its side to “carpet” the foreground of the aquarium as roots will grow out of nearly any part of the plant. When we ship this plant it will likely still be in it's emersed growth form (pictured in the in the secondary photos). Given time being planted in your tank and exposed to intense plant lighting it will make new submerged growth that looks just like the main picture. Water Wisteria is one of the easier aquarium plants to maintain.  It can grow as tall as 20 inches when planted in its typical position, so it is best used in the background of the aquarium.  It will grow upward as well as outward, and one bunch can easily reach a width of 10 inches, so it is best used in larger aquariums unless it is pruned very regularly. Water Wisteria does not require CO2 supplementation or overly high lighting, but it usually will not display the “forked” appearance in its leaves in low lighting set-ups.  Due to the somewhat thin width of its leaves, Water Wisteria is not suitable for aquariums with destructive animals such as crayfish, large cichlids, or goldfish. Like most plants, Water Wisteria will benefit from supplementation such as Seachem Flourish, Flourish Excel, nitrogen, and other plant supplements. No aquarium plant distributor/nursery/wholesaler/retailer can or will guarantee their plants to be 100% snail free. We can not guarantee our plants will be snail free. What We Like About This Plant: Tall and wide growth that is ideal for larger aquariums Very easy to propagate, can be modified for foreground use Provides a great deal of cover for animal fry Very hardy and durable in a well-lit, nutrient-rich aquarium   Care Guidelines: Temperature: 72° - 82° F (22° - 28° C) pH: 6.5 - 7.5 Lighting: Moderate Origin: Indigenous to Indian subcontinent, cultivated in US nurseries Aquarium placement: Background, foreground when properly modified Care: Easy   All Aquatic Arts brand plants and animals come with a 100% live arrival guarantee, plus free email support!

Mini Super Red Ludwigia (Ludwigia sp. "Mini Super Red")

Mini Super Red Ludwigia (Ludwigia sp. "Mini Super Red")

Mini Super Red Ludwigia is one of the smaller Ludwigia species and it boasts the most intense red coloration under high lighting!   Mini Super Red Ludwigia (Ludwigia sp. “Super Red Mini”) is a very popular and very striking red plant for the serious freshwater planted aquarium. With proper care, this hardy, fast-growing plant can flourish and highlight the middle or background of the aquascape with intense red coloration. It can thrive with only moderate lighting, but it has the potential for complete red coloration with higher lighting and proper supplementation.   This variety of Mini Super Red Ludwigia requires moderate to high lighting. Its trimmings can be replanted. It does not require substrate, but does seem to absorb some of its nutrients through its side roots and it can be attached to driftwood and other surfaces. It does not require CO2 supplementation, but CO2 supplementation will contribute to more optimal growth and health. High lighting is necessary for this plant to maintain its optimal ultra red coloration.   Like most plants, Mini Super Red Ludwigia will benefit from supplementation such as Seachem Flourish, Flourish Excel, Flourish Nitrogen, Flourish Iron, and other plant supplements.   No aquarium plant distributor/nursery/wholesaler/retailer can or will guarantee their plants to be 100% snail free. We can not guarantee our plants will be snail free.  What We Like About This Plant: Extraordinary red coloration and very prolific growth in ideal conditions Easy care Excellent middle or background plant Provides protective cover for fry and can attach to or cover many surfaces in the aquarium   Care Guidelines: Temperature: 64° - 82° F (18° - 28° C) pH: 5.0 – 7.0 Lighting: Medium to High. Higher lighting will help maintain red coloration. Potential Height: 6 inches (15 cm), sometimes taller. Varied Aesthetic Appeal: Each species boasts unique shell patterns and colors, making them a delightful addition to any setup. Peaceful Tankmates: Nerite snails are non-aggressive and compatible with most freshwater and brackish tank species. Aquascaping Nerite snails thrive in beautifully aquascaped tanks, and their unique aesthetic pairs perfectly with thoughtful decor and plant selections. Here’s how to design an ideal home for them: Decor: Use natural-looking decorations like driftwood and smooth stones. These provide additional surfaces for algae growth, which nerites will happily graze on. Avoid sharp or rough surfaces that could damage their shells. Plants: Hardy aquatic plants like Anubias, Java Fern, and Cryptocoryne are excellent choices. These plants require minimal maintenance and thrive in the same water parameters as Nerite snails. Mosses such as Java Moss and Christmas Moss also offer great coverage and extra grazing surfaces. Botanicals: Indian Almond Leaves, alder cones, and other natural botanicals can enrich the tank with tannins and nutrients while creating a natural, shaded environment. These botanicals also encourage the growth of biofilm, which nerites love to snack on. Substrate: A soft, sand or fine-gravel substrate complements Nerite snails' peaceful nature and minimizes the risk of injury as they explore the tank. Food & Nutrition While Nerite snails are excellent algae grazers, supplemental feeding ensures their optimal health and shell strength. Calcium is especially critical for maintaining healthy, strong shells. Dietary Needs: Offer algae wafers, blanched vegetables (such as zucchini, spinach, or kale), and calcium-rich foods like cuttlebone or calcium blocks. Recommended Products: We highly recommend Kat’s Aquatic Algae Wafers and Kat’s Aquatic Calcium Supplements for a balanced and complete diet. These products are formulated to meet the dietary needs of snails and other invertebrates. Providing a well-rounded diet helps support their overall health, longevity, and their natural ability to keep your tank algae-free. Tank Requirements Temperature: 72° - 78°F (22° - 26°C) pH: 7.0 - 8.4 Water Type: Freshwater or brackish (not suitable for saltwater setups) Tank Size: 5 gallons minimum CARE GUIDELINES: Diet:  Nerite Snails can subsist on algae if there is enough present in the aquarium.  Their diet can be supplemented with algae wafers and/or blanched vegetables such as zucchini, kale, spinach, or cucumber. Social behavior:  Peaceful and solitary; will not engage with tankmates. Origin:  Northeast, East, and South Africa (Zebra Nerite), India and Indo-Pacific (Tiger Nerite), Indo-Pacific (Assorted Horned Nerite) Average adult size:  1 - 1.5 inches (2.5 - 3.8 cm) Average purchase size:  .5 - 1 inch (1.3 - 2.5 cm)  Please Note: This is a catcher’s choice item, meaning specific species requests cannot be accommodated. Thunderbolt Crayfish (Cherax pulcher)

Thunderbolt Crayfish (Cherax pulcher)

Due to state restrictions on invasive species, we are not able to ship or sell any color morph of the Cherax sp. crayfish to the following state(s): California, Florida, Texas, and Wisconsin. This species is prohibited to own in the above state(s), meaning it is illegal to possess them live in these state(s). This includes possession for consumption, education, aquarium trade, or any other live trade.     * For the safety of our animals, we now ship cherax crayfish exclusively via UPS Next Day Air. If your order contains this item, you will only see UPS Next Day Air as a shipping option during checkout * This very rare species is widely regarded as the world's most beautiful crayfish, and this is its natural, wild coloration!   The Thunderbolt Crayfish (Cherax pulcher) is a newly discovered and extremely rare species of crayfish native to the Hoa Creek of  Western Papua New Guinea. With its remarkably eclectic coloration, this crayfish is without a doubt one of the most unique-looking crayfish in the world. This crayfish is also commonly known as the Pink Coral Freshwater Lobster, though true lobsters do not exist in freshwater. Deep blue, hot pink, emerald green, orange, white, and black are all distinctly shown on top specimens of this crayfish. A 7-color spectrum is not found on any other freshwater crayfish! The Thunderbolt Crayfish will breed in the aquarium with proper care, although the fry are extremely slow growing, especially compared to the many more common US crayfish species that are popular in the aquarium hobby. In fact, many of our specimens have bred in our tanks at our facility!   This particular crayfish is relatively active and spends plenty of time exploring the floor of the aquarium in search of food. The Thunderbolt Crayfish is an omnivorous scavenger and will eat most any meaty or plant-based foods. This crayfish should not be kept with purely ornamental live plants as it will eat them at a surprising rate. While this crayfish can use some animal protein in its diet, it seems to show its greatest color, health, and breeding potential when it is fed a diet that is mostly plant matter, including peas (an excellent vegetable protein source) and carrots. Frozen peas and carrots are an excellent staple diet. They only need chopped into smaller pieces when feeding juveniles.   As it reaches adulthood, the Thunderbolt Crayfish will become relatively territorial, so it may behave aggressively towards other animals in the tank. It is important that ample hiding places such as rockwork, driftwood, or PVC pipes be provided. This is even more crucial when housing multiple crayfish in the same tank. Due to the size and waste production of this crayfish, a minimum 30-gallon, well-filtered aquarium is necessary for one adult. A larger aquarium of 55 gallon or larger aquarium can house multiple adults of similar size. This is a reasonably hardy animal, but regular water changes are vital to its optimal health. Other bottom-dwelling invertebrates and fish should not be kept with large crayfish. It is possible to keep mid- and upper-level, fast-swimming fish with the Thunderbolt Crayfish, but crayfish are opportunistic feeders and will generally eat whatever they can catch. It is a skilled climber, so extra care must be taken to ensure that it does not escape its enclosure.   As with all of our crayfish, the coloration of the Thunderbolt Crayfish is EXTREMELY high quality for the Pink/Purple variant- much higher quality than others on the market. This crayfish may TEMPORARILY change color and hide more than usual after molting, which may occur during shipping. If your crayfish has faded color and you find a molt in the bag or in your aquarium, do not worry; this is normal and the bright color will return in 2 weeks or less.  We do also offer no pink/purple color variants of this species when we receive some that are not up to the higher color quality that this species can possess. The no pink/purple color variant of this species can still possibly produce higher color grade offspring, but they may not color up themselves to the higher color grades. Both the pink/purple and the no pink/purple color variants are the same species and we will only stock the no pink/purples if the shipments comes in with less colorful specimens.    It is very uncommon to see tank-bred juveniles of this species, but we are currently offering USA-Bred Juveniles from breeders whose breeding adults have superb coloration, including the highly-desired pink/purple coloration! We have been working on distributing this species to US breeders for several years in hopes establishing it as a species that is bred in the aquarium.   *IMPORTANT* Please "Choose a Variant" above before adding this crayfish to your cart. The variants we're currently offering are:   Two color grades: With Pink/Purple (a very significant amount) and Without Pink/Purple (little to no amount). The variants listed below are available for both color grades. 1 Male Thunderbolt Crayfish - 2-3+ inch Adult 1 Female Crayfish – 2-3+ inch Adult 1 Male/Female Crayfish Pair – 2-3+ inch Adults 1 B-Grade Crayfish - 2-3+ inch Adult (All of our “B-Grade” crayfish are simply specimens that are missing legs or claws.  Loss of appendages is not permanent and happens commonly with crustaceans. They are completely healthy with excellent coloration and will completely regenerate lost appendages within 1 to 2 molts, which is typically about 2 to 3 months.) 1 USA-Bred Crayfish - .5+ inch Unsexed Juvenile (A younger and smaller variant of Thunderbolt Crayfish than our young adult specimens. This is a hardy species and will usually grow well into adult size and coloration within 6 months with proper care.  In the meantime, any customers who choose to go with a juvenile specimen can experience the excitement of watching their little crayfish grow! All of our juvenile specimens come from adults with very high pink/purple coloration. While this color sometimes does not show in juveniles, many of our juveniles are already showing this pink/purple coloration! There is a small chance that genetics could throw some less desirable color genes into the young, but most should color up into beautiful crayfish.)    What We Like About This Crayfish: Stunning blue, pink, purple, and emerald coloration Less aggressive than many other crayfish Easy to feed Excellent scavenger Fascinating and rewarding aquarium subject   RECOMMENDED TANK PARAMETERS: Temperature: 65°- 78° F (18° - 25° C) pH: 6.5 - 7.5 KH: 6 - 15 dKH Minimum tank size: 30 gallons   CARE GUIDELINES: Diet: Crayfish are typically very easy to feed since they are mostly omnivorous scavengers. However, Cherax species can sometimes be a bit finicky. In addition to various plant matter, we have been feeding all of our Cherax crayfish frozen peas and carrots as well as frozen shrimp that is chopped into manageable pieces after thawing. We highly recommend that our customers at least initially offer this diet to their Cherax crayfish. In time, it is very likely that the crayfish will also accept high-quality dry foods, though a varied diet is required for optimal health, coloration, and activity. This species does best with a diet that is mostly vegetable matter. Social behavior: Can be aggressive/territorial with other crayfish, but is much less so than Procambarus species (such as the Electric Blue Crayfish).  Crayfish will typically eat whatever they can catch, but since they are slow-moving, they are not often able to harm fast-moving fish Origin: West Papua New Guinea Average adult size: 5 - 6 inches (12.7 - 15.2 cm) Average purchase size: Adults: 2 - 3+ inches (5 - 7.6 cm), Juveniles: .5 - 1 inch (1.27 - 2.54 cm) Recommended Aquatic Arts tankmates: Fast-moving fish (such as Celestial Pearl Danios, Rasboras, Guppies, etc.).  While dwarf shrimp can be kept successfully with these crayfish, caution should be exercised, as the crayfish have been known to catch and eat slow, sick, or particularly small shrimp.  Cichlids can be aggressive toward crayfish and should not be kept in the same tank.  Bottom-dwelling tankmates should definitely be avoided.   All Aquatic Arts brand plants and animals come with a 100% live arrival guarantee, plus free email support!

While AquaticArts demonstrates commitment to ethical breeding practices and maintains good animal welfare standards, there's limited transparency regarding their overall environmental impact and energy usage. They use sustainable packaging but could improve their documentation of supply chain practices. Their focus on captive-bred specimens is positive, but more detailed reporting on facility operations and conservation efforts would be beneficial.
