Description

Java Fern is one of the hardiest, most versatile aquarium plants, and we are glad to offer it already attached to a driftwood piece! Java Fern (Microsorum pteropus) is an attractive, popular, and low-maintenance plant for the freshwater aquarium.  Its long, bright green leaves provide a beautiful aquascape as well as important refuge and grazing areas for shrimp and fish as well as their fry.  Unlike many plants, Java Fern attaches itself to and propagates on aquarium décor.  We offer this exquisite plant attached to an attractive 3+ inch driftwood piece which can be placed anywhere in the aquarium. Java Fern is relatively slow-growing, at least initially.  It only requires low to moderate lighting and nutrient rich water, although its growth rate can be increased through CO2 injection/supplementation.  It reproduces through rhizome division and the production of offshoots, and it thrives in most areas of the aquarium.  Java Fern should not be planted with its rhizome (roots) buried in the substrate because it will rot and recede.  Due to its delicate leaves, it should not be housed with large crayfish, medium to large cichlids, goldfish, or any other animals that are prone to excessively picking at plants. Like most plants, Java Fern will benefit from supplementation such as Seachem Flourish, Flourish Excel, nitrogen and other plant supplements. No aquarium plant distributor/nursery/wholesaler/retailer can or will guarantee their plants to be 100% snail free. We cannot guarantee our plants will be snail free.   What We Like About This Plant: Attractive bright green leaves Thrives when attached to driftwood or rockwork Extremely easy care Requires low to moderate lighting Care Guidelines: Temperature: 60° - 83° F (15° - 28° C) pH: 5.5 - 8.0 Lighting: Low to moderate Origin: Indigenous to Southeast Asia, cultivated in Taiwan nurseries Aquarium placement: Middle to background Care: Easy to moderate All Aquatic Arts brand plants and animals come with a 100% live arrival guarantee, plus free email support!

Multi-Color Mystery Snail COMBO PACK (Pomacea bridgesii) - Tank-Bred!

Multi-Color Mystery Snail COMBO PACK (Pomacea bridgesii) - Tank-Bred!

Love Mystery Snails, but can't decide which color to order?  Then this is the combo pack for you!     INCLUDED IN THIS PACK ARE THE FOLLOWING Mystery Snail Types: Black Mystery Snails Blue Mystery Snails Gold Mystery Snails *To see more information on each type of snail, see their individual listings. These large and striking snails are great for adding some color to your aquarium, but they also serve some very useful purposes.  They clean algae off of glass, plants, and decorations, they eat hair algae, and they keep your substrate clean and the correct color.  They are totally safe with any fish, shrimp, or plants, and are completely peaceful.  These snails are quite large as adults, growing up to 3 inches in diameter.  As with all freshwater snails, Mystery Snails are very sensitive to copper, so it's advisable to monitor your copper levels if you use tap water in your tank. Mystery Snails are generally much more active and display more playful behavior than other types of freshwater snails.  They are almost constantly scaling the walls of the aquarium, extending their antennae in search of food.  They will climb up to the water line in to breathe air, so it's a good idea to make sure the water line in your aquarium isn't too high.  When a Mystery Snail reaches the top of a wall or structure, it will often let go of the wall and glide rapidly downward until it crashes into plants or into the substrate below, often eliciting a "Weeee!" sound from any witnesses.  We try to ship mostly young Mystery Snails to customers so that they can be kept and enjoyed for more of their lifespan; thus, most of our Mystery Snails will arrive at a smaller size (around .25 - 1.5 inches (1.3 - 5 cm) in diameter).  They have voracious appetites and grow in size VERY quickly if they are fed well; a young Mystery Snail can double in size in a matter of weeks to months. NOTE: If you search the Internet for Mystery Snails, many results will state that these are the same species as Apple Snails.  These are NOT Apple Snails, though they do resemble them in shape.  Apple Snails are considered an invasive species and are illegal to own in the United States.  Our Mystery Snails do not grow to the tremendous size that Apple Snails do (often as big as an apple).     What We Like About This Snail: A variety of bright shell colors Its playful behavior makes it more fun to watch than other snails Safe with plants Completely peaceful   RECOMMENDED TANK PARAMETERS:  Temperature:  68° - 84° F (20° - 29° C) pH:  7.6 - 8.4 KH:  2 - 15 dKH Minimum tank size:  2.5 gallons per snail   CARE GUIDELINES: Diet:  Other than algae and biofilm, Mystery Snails also eat leftover fish/invertebrate flakes and pellets and blanched vegetables such as zucchini, kale, spinach, or cucumber. Social behavior:  Peaceful and solitary; will not engage with tankmates. Origin:  Tank-bred, but indigenous to South America. Average adult size:  2.5 - 3+ inches (5 - 7.6+ cm) Average purchase size:  .25 - 1.5 inches (1.3 - 5 cm) All Aquatic Arts brand plants and animals come with a 100% live arrival guarantee, plus free email support!

Rose Red Rotala (Rotala macrandra), bunch

Rose Red Rotala (Rotala macrandra), bunch

This plant has possibly the most potential of any aquatic plant for deep red coloration! Rose Red Rotala (Rotala macrandra) is an exceptionally beautiful plant that is highly appreciated by aquarists. It is much more demanding than many other Rotala species, but it is extremely rewarding when given excellent to optimal care. With the correct water parameters, high lighting, and CO2 supplementation when possible, this plant will become almost unimaginably deep red from top to bottom! We do receive this plant in it's emersed growth form so it's leaves will look different than what is pictured until it starts to grow new submerged growth. The stems of Rose Red Rotala should be planted far enough apart that the light will penetrate all the way to the bottom of the stem. High lighting is possibly the most important factor in keeping this plant in optimal condition. Fairly high phosphate and low nitrate levels are also preferred. Nutrient-rich substrate is also a necessity. CO2 is not absolutely necessary if these other factors are met, but it certainly is beneficial. The fastest growth will happen in soft water. If its needs are met, Rose Red Rotala will develop side shoots, which can be clipped and replanted as they reach enough length to not be overshadowed by other larger plants. We are selling this plant in bunches of 4-6 stems each. No aquarium plant distributor/nursery/wholesaler/retailer can or will guarantee their plants to be 100% snail free. We can not guarantee our plants will be snail free. What We Like About This Plant: Full, deep red coloration with proper care Moderately prolific and easy to prune Easily among the very most beautiful aquarium plants worldwide Breathtaking focal point for the planted aquarium Care Guidelines: Temperature: 65° - 78° F (18° - 26° C) pH: 6.0 - 7.0 Lighting: High, more red coloration is achieved with higher lighting, high phosphates, low nitrates, and CO2 Origin: Cultivated in nurseries, but indigenous to India Aquarium placement: Middle Care: Moderate to High All Aquatic Arts brand plants and animals come with a 100% live arrival guarantee, plus free email support!

Red Root Floater (Phyllanthus fluitans)

Red Root Floater (Phyllanthus fluitans)

This plant is one of the best-looking floating plants for the aquarium and it propagates quickly!     Red Root Floater (Phyllanthus fluitans) is a South American floating plant that is known and highly desired for its bright red roots and underside. Under high lighting, its leaves can turn completely red! This hardy plant propagates quickly and can provide shade to areas of the aquarium, which will encourage more reclusive species to come out of hiding. This is a truly beautiful and very beneficial plant for aquariums with gentle water flow.   Care is extremely easy for Red Root Floater. It can thrive in a relatively wide pH range as well as low to high lighting. Its only major specific requirement is that it reportedly does not do well with a high level of surface agitation. It is best kept in an aquarium with gentle water flow. Under these simple conditions, it will multiply very quickly and provide significant denitrification as well as oxygenation, which is particularly important in aquariums with low water flow. It does not require CO2 supplementation.   Like most plants, Red Root Floater will benefit from supplementation such as Seachem Flourish, Flourish Excel, nitrogen, iron, and other plant supplements. No aquarium plant distributor/nursery/wholesaler/retailer can or will guarantee their plants to be 100% snail free. We can not guarantee our plants will be snail free. What We Like About This Plant: Bright red roots and underside under any lighting Overall red leaves under high lighting Provides shade to areas of the aquarium Very hardy and durable in low water flow   Care Guidelines: Temperature: 70° - 82° F (21° - 28° C) pH: 6.5 - 7.5 Lighting: Low to High Origin: Indigenous to South America, cultivated in US nurseries Aquarium placement: Floating Care: Easy   Note: All of our floating plants are grown at an outdoor nursery, there is a chance of duckweed being in any floating plant package   All Aquatic Arts brand plants and animals come with a 100% live arrival guarantee, plus free email support!
