Made of natural organic cotton. Direct from the manufacturer savings on the lovely, substantial double-woven muslin. There is no comparison to the commonly available swaddles in big stores. This is more substantial and nicer. You will be impressed with the quality and beautiful fabric at such a low price. It's super-nice! Available only at Green Mountain Diapers. Sold individually. SIZE: About 39 x 39 inches before washing; about 36 x 36 inches after shrinkage Unbleached natural double weave cotton muslin. After washing is about 36x36 inches. This is one size larger than our size Large Birdseye flat and Large Muslin diapers (which are smaller than this item). The fabric is sometimes called gauze. Ours are double weave which means that it is basically two layers of cloth woven together on the same loom at the same time to form one thicker layer. That's an oversimplification of the weaving process but you end up with one layer of thicker fabric than single weaving but it is still a one-layer fabric. Thicker means more absorbent yet since it is really still one layer, it has a nice, soft hand and washes and dries easily and quickly. After shrinkage it is about one square yard of fabric. It is finished on two ends only and the other two ends are self-finished edges called selvadge or selvedge edges, just like our birdseye flat diapers. No dyes! Thicker and more substantial than the big store brands. In Europe these are called baby towels. We tend to think of towels as terry cloth so I don't want to call them that but they can be used after the bath to wrap baby. Receiving blankets come in many sizes. A common size for receiving blankets is 28x28 inches. These are larger at 36x36 inches. Swaddling blankets are usually about 47x47, so these are smaller than that (these are 36x36 after shrinkage, 39x39 before shrinkage). Our large birdseye diapers are about 31x31 and our small birdseye is about 28x28 inches. I swaddled my first baby with the 28x28 flannel receiving blankets and they worked fine but I do think a little larger size would have been better for swaddling. It can be used as a swaddle blanket but our intention is for diapering older babies, toddlers and preschoolers. We recommend fastening it with diaper pins. This nice fabric can have many other uses. Since it is plain without any prints or dyes, you know it will match everything now and far into the future when little baby prints aren't really ideal anymore for whatever purpose you find for it. Also consider this as fabric for small home-sewing projects to make various diapers, doublers, wipes or other items. As a diaper, it is a little bit more absorbent than a size XLarge toddler green edge prefold diaper! Folded in half and then trifolded it is the same length as a size large brown edge prefold but it is thicker. It will fit in size large or XLarge diaper covers either trifolded or fastened. There are many ways to fold it so it will fit any age toddler or child. This is a good option for toddlers or preschoolers for overnight diapering especially since it will wash cleanly very easily. A great deal. No bamboo rayon. No microfiber. No slow-absorbing hemp. 100% quick-absorbing cotton. Simple. Effective. Easy to wash. Oeko-Tex certified cotton. A 6-ply doubler for any diaper or use an insert to layer into a pocket diaper to replace microfiber inserts. Made from Cloth-eez Prefold fabric. Measure the size of what you want to replace to be sure of your correct size. Because these are 100% cotton, they can be used next to baby's skin. Doublers, (boosters) and these cotton Inserts are all similar but are different sizes and layering. A 6-ply doubler-insert to layer into a pocket diaper replace microfiber inserts. These are 6-ply. That means six layers of cotton prefold fabric, which is 2 layers less than our other doublers, however they are wider. One is NOT enough in a pocket diaper, except for a very young baby. Layer 2 or even 3 of these in the pocket to get the absorbency you want. We chose to make these 6-ply because they dry very fast, wash cleanly very easily, and allow for customized absorbency needs. Want it trim? Use 2. That is 12 layers. This is the most common way to use these. Need more absorbency? Use 3 of them in there. Choose your bulk-level; choose your correct absorbency for your needs. The big benefit of these is how easily they come clean in the wash. Say goodbye to stinky microfiber. Use them for dusting instead. The skin on your hands will be happier too when you stop touching the microfiber inserts. Cotton feels so much nicer. Should you decide to move away from synthetic pocket diapering and switch over to 100% cotton diapering, you don't need to purchase any doublers because you already have these on hand. The same lovely prefold fabric as our beloved Cloth-eez® prefolds. These are wider than our regular Cloth-eez doubler for a better fit when stuffing synthetic pocket diapers. They are quilty just like prefolds are so they come out of the dryer curly and need to be flattened out by hand a bit. This is the nature of the twill prefold fabric. These are also suitable as doublers for extra absorbency in any style diaper. Measurements are approximate. Shrinkage varies. Chlorine-free white 100% cotton. Made in Pakistan. Stacking 3 large blue edge inserts is similar to using one medium red edge prefold diaper. So if a medium prefold is too much bulk for your pocket diaper, try using just 2 of these doubler-inserts for a trimmer fit. Stack them together, grab both ends together and place it into the pocket all at once, as if it were one item, at the same time. Stuffing two is not very different than stuffing one because it is still one stuffing motion. 12 layers would be too thick to wash and dry so using two 6 layer inserts together in the pocket really does makes sense. Need more for nap or night? Use 3 at the same time. What is the difference between a doubler and and insert? The width and the layering are a little different but they very similar. You can use these as doublers. Inserts are a little bit wider than doublers and the width is needed to fill up the space in the pocket. These are 6 ply. There are many choices for absorbency but something that is 100% cotton will always wash up more easily than any other absorbency fabric. See a video explaining the inserts and comparison to prefolds Prefold fabric is quilty, curly and variable. Sizes are approximate. Shrinkage will vary. They come out curlier and a little smaller when prepped and washed in a front loader or an HE top loader due to the action of the HE machines (pushing fibers vs pulling fibers). They tend to come out a little flatter when prepped and washed in standard top loader. This machine and shrinkage variation is also true for prefolds, flats and other cotton products. What do you insert these Inserts into? Any pocket diaper. Choose your insert size according to the length of the pocket diaper at the rise setting you are using for your child. Medium Prefold with a medium Insert used as a doubler shown on a changing table with a curved changing pad on it. Medium Inserts are shorter than medium Prefolds. White cotton is easier to prep than unbleached cotton. Both sizes are 8 layers (8-ply) of 100% cotton. I love the prefold fabric because it's so soft and pliable. It is quilty just like prefolds are so they come out of the dryer curly and need to be flattened out by hand. Regular top load machines curl them less than HE machines do. This is the nature of the twill prefold fabric. I like to match fabrics. This prefold fabric washes very easily and doesn't hold stink because it is 100% cotton.
