Halo in moss

Halo in moss

A flatweave rug of hand-carded wool Hand-carded all-natural wool on cotton foundationFlatweave: approximately .6" thick (14-15mm)3" hand-knotted fringeWe recommend you pair this piece with a rug pad for comfort and longevityColor palette: moss green, bone beige, warm vanilla beige, tanSlight variations in size due to handmade natureWant this rug in a custom size? Click here The Design Subtle, sophisticated, and soft: what more could you want in a rug? In the Halo Rug, Sweater meets Rock Star to create a perfect hybrid. Its ground is an angel-soft hand-carded wool: the ultimate in quiet luxury. Hand-carding requires skill and attention, and we use a kilim-style weave to show off the yarn's natural texture. A blend of New Zealand wool and European wool creates a natural abrash effect from cream to beige to brown. The touch of color comes in from its cotton warp, shining through the wool weft around the edges and fringe, like a frame or a halo. The Material All-natural, hand-carded, hand-spun New Zealand wool is a premium wool prepared in a premium way. Beloved for its softness and long fibers, it's hand-carded, which is the traditional technique used to prepare fibers to be spun into yarn. Carding separates and straightens the wool fibers, transforming them into a roll of wool (called a rolag or a batt) that's more easily spun. In this rug, we combine New Zealand with European wool and weave this onto a cotton warp for durability. The Maker Our partner is a small, family-run operation based in Bhadohi, with an in-house spinning mill, dying plant, weaving unit, and washing unit. They're invested in researching new weaving technologies, especially when it comes to improving environmentally-sound practices. The Designer Our in-house, all-star design team collaborates across three different countries. Based in Los Angeles, Istanbul, and Mumbai, they put a lot of thought into each and every collection they design. Starting with the weave itself, they determine material and technique, then create moodboards to capture the look and feel before starting to design. When designs are finalized, they conduct an extensive sampling process, perfecting each style and color before it goes to production.Clean regularly with a non-rotary, low powered vacuum, preferably without a beater brushRotate your rug on occasion to ensure even wear over timeKeep away from excessive moistureDo not dry clean or steam cleanProfessional cleaning recommended as neededIn case of spills, use a paper towel or cloth to blot the liquid. Add some clean water sparingly to the spot to dilute the stain (or wet a paper towel or cloth) and blot. If the stain is persistent, try using a mild detergent. Repeat this process until the stain is removed.

This refers to the transition from angular, geometric designs to the more organic, curvilinear designs found in Persian carpets—resembling Ottoman art and architecture.Material DetailsWool is the most widely used fiber in Turkish rug design. Not only is it plentiful in supply, it’s durable, long-lasting, and soft—so it’s super comfy to walk and relax on. This wool pile is knotted onto a cotton foundation, another popular choice in rug design. The cotton used is rigid, strong, and provides a sturdy foundation that’s designed to last a lifetime—or ten.We recommend that you regularly vacuum your rug to remove dirt and grime. Depending on how heavily your rug is used, just once or twice a month is adequate. Too much vacuuming can wear down the knots and fibers more quickly. If you have a suction attachment on your vacuum cleaner, use that instead of a rotary vacuum. Every few months, you’ll also want to flip your rug over and vacuum the back to get the grit out of the foundation of the rug. It also helps to rotate your rug once a year to ensure even wear over time.Every 3-5 years, we recommend getting your rug professionally hand-washed. Please do not take it to get steam or dry cleaned—this will almost certainly damage the rug! Hand-washing requires the use of a pH-balanced shampoo, worked into the rug by hand with a soft-bristled brush, before being rinsed thoroughly. This process should be repeated a few times. In case of spills:If the spill is organic and non-oily (e.g., wine), use a paper towel or cloth to blot the liquid. Add some clean water sparingly to the spot to dilute the stain (or wet a paper towel or cloth) and blot. Repeat this process until the stain is removed. If the stain is persistent, resist the urge to scrub. Scrubbing can damage the wool fibers and more easily allow the stain to penetrate. You may try using a mild detergent, such as very diluted dishwashing soap, following the same blot-and-rinse procedure. If the spill is a denser, more oily liquid, try first to scoop what you can from the surface using a spoon or perhaps some heavier paper, and then do the blot-and-rinse. If the spill is significant, non-organic and/or composed of chemical substances, or the above methods don’t work, we suggest getting the rug professionally hand-washed as soon as possible. For rugs with deeply saturated color palettes, be sure to spot-clean them in an area that can be hosed down immediately after, as some color bleeding may occur.

This wool pile is knotted onto a cotton foundation, another popular choice in rug design. The cotton used is rigid, strong, and provides a sturdy foundation that’s designed to last a lifetime—or ten.Dust and dirt that accumulate in your rug can erode the fibers over time. The best way to combat this is to take your rug outside and give it a good shake once a week. Depending on how large it is, you may need to recruit a friend to help. Also, be sure to get a rug pad—this helps to preserve your rug in spite of dirt.If shaking it out isn’t possible, you can vacuum it instead—just be cautious, and don’t use a rotary vacuum, because it can damage the fibers. Once or twice a month, vacuum on low power with a non-rotary (no spinning brush) vacuum or suction attachment only, moving gently from side to side. Once or twice a year, flip your rug over and vacuum the back.Once a year, let it sunbathe. Hang it in the sun for a few hours when it’s hottest, and flip it over midway through, to expose both sides to direct sunlight. This sun-bleaching helps further sanitize the wool. It’s a natural method to bleach and deodorize it.To ensure equal wear and protect against walk patterns, change your rug's direction periodically. You can also flip your rug upside-down once in awhile, and use it like that for a bit. With Turkish rugs, the back is typically as nice as the front.Every 3-5 years, we recommend getting your rug professionally hand-washed with by an expert. Please do not take it to get steam or dry cleaned—this will almost certainly damage the rug! For high traffic areas, these effects may occur more quickly and easily.

Soft washable rug made in TurkeySoft washable rug made in Turkey100% polyester on cotton backing, OEKO-TEX certified Low pile: about .23" thick (6mm)Machine washable, line dryColor palette: inky black, crimson red, maroonSlight variations in size to be expectedThe CollectionWe made a better washable rug. Flexible and easy to clean, with an extraordinarily comfortable pile, these pieces are not mats: they're the real deal, soft enough to cushion every step. Plus, their lightness and foldability makes washing easy. The DesignIn our washable Scrawl collection, minimalist design yields maximum effect thanks to abrash-dyed yarn. Abrash, also styled as abraj, is transliterated from Arabic, where it means dappled or speckled. This technique produces subtle differences in the dye lots, lending a covetable flow and movement in color. We’ve added a contrasting black stripe that's done in a slightly-shrunken pile for even more texture. The Bocchi rug has vertical stripes which bend, at the last minute, into opposing diagonals. The MaterialSoft as wool with a very subtle silk-like sheen, our polyester is highly durable, OEKO-TEX certified for safety, mildew-resistant, and machine-washable. Bath Mat

Bath Mat

A cushy, textural bath mat with a luxurious weave. Made in Denizli, Turkey.Measures approximately: 19” x 32” (48.26 cm x 81.28 cm)100% long-staple organic siro-combed Turkish cotton1500 GSMGOTS and OEKO-TEX certifiedPlease note that slight shrinkage may occur upon washingMeasures approximately: 19” x 32” (48.26 cm x 81.28 cm)The Collection:Staying true to the tradition of simple luxury, our first bathing collection is made of soft long-staple organic cotton grown on the Aegean coast. Turkish baths, or hammams, can be traced back to the 7th century, and by the 17th, Turkish artisans began to apply their rug-weaving talent towards embellishing the humble bath towel. The Aegean Collection embodies the Turkish eye to detail, comfort, and efficacy. The Design:Our Aegean bath mat has a cushy, textural weave that feels like you’re stepping into a towel rather than onto one. The collection was designed to be mixed-and-matched, with complementary motifs and colors heralding from the Aegean coast: sun-dried terra cotta, azure blue skies, sand, shell, and cool marble columns. The Material:Long-staple organic Turkish cotton is GOTS and OEKO-TEX certified, as well as extremely soft. It’s grown in the Bergama region of Turkey along the Aegean coast, where it’s fed by seaside air before being woven into a towel of a weighty 700 grams per square meter, or GSM. A higher GSM makes a towel thicker and more absorbent, but also takes longer to dry, so we chose something that feels really good and spa-like, but isn’t so heavy that it’s perpetually damp. While there’s no “right number”, there are GSM ranges that feel best: 500 to 800 generally is considered luxe. The Supplier:Because one of our main offices is in Istanbul, we were able to take our time scouting expert mills across Turkey, zeroing in on the highest-quality partner. Our supplier understands that quality textiles are only achieved with quality yarn—so they built their own yarn factory to ensure they only use the best. During multiple test rounds with them, we determined the towels’ optimal softness and absorbency, refined the design, and perfected each hue.
