Its ground is an angel-soft hand-carded wool: the ultimate in quiet luxury. Hand-carding requires skill and attention, and we use a kilim-style weave to show off the yarn's natural texture. A blend of New Zealand wool and European wool creates a natural abrash effect from cream to beige to brown. The touch of color comes in from its cotton warp, shining through the wool weft around the edges and fringe, like a frame or a halo. The Material All-natural, hand-carded, hand-spun New Zealand wool is a premium wool prepared in a premium way. Beloved for its softness and long fibers, it's hand-carded, which is the traditional technique used to prepare fibers to be spun into yarn. Carding separates and straightens the wool fibers, transforming them into a roll of wool (called a rolag or a batt) that's more easily spun. In this rug, we combine New Zealand with European wool and weave this onto a cotton warp for durability. The Maker Our partner is a small, family-run operation based in Bhadohi, with an in-house spinning mill, dying plant, weaving unit, and washing unit. They're invested in researching new weaving technologies, especially when it comes to improving environmentally-sound practices. The Designer Our in-house, all-star design team collaborates across three different countries. Based in Los Angeles, Istanbul, and Mumbai, they put a lot of thought into each and every collection they design. Starting with the weave itself, they determine material and technique, then create moodboards to capture the look and feel before starting to design. When designs are finalized, they conduct an extensive sampling process, perfecting each style and color before it goes to production.Clean regularly with a non-rotary, low powered vacuum, preferably without a beater brushRotate your rug on occasion to ensure even wear over timeKeep away from excessive moistureDo not dry clean or steam cleanProfessional cleaning recommended as neededIn case of spills, use a paper towel or cloth to blot the liquid. Add some clean water sparingly to the spot to dilute the stain (or wet a paper towel or cloth) and blot. If the stain is persistent, try using a mild detergent. Repeat this process until the stain is removed.
