Hart is an elegant, flexible flatweave jute rug, which looks as good alone as it does layered underneath another rug (or two). The round version is perfect for under your dining table, and we also like it in playrooms.Hart was voted "Best Natural Fiber Rug" by NYT Wirecutter in 2022 and 2023.100% natural, unbleached juteFlatweave: approximately .2” thick (5-6mm)Fibers are hand-sorted by color for a subtle, brindled lookLow-shed, easy to clean, and biodegradableSlight variations in size due to handmade nature The DesignHart is unbleached to preserve its natural variation of color, and finely-woven to create a delicate ombre. Bonus: its fine weave also collects less dust. The MaterialJute is a natural fiber with a golden sheen, known for its tensile strength and versatilityAn eco-conscious crop, jute has minimal water needs, and consumes large enough quantities of carbon dioxide that it’s carbon-neutralHandspun weft expresses the fiber's natural irregularities and texturesUnbleached jute has a desirable variation of hue and texture, which we’ve played up with a delicate tonal gradationThe MakerOur partner is the third weaving generation of his family, and heads a small weaving house known for their unparalleled skill. A perfectionist with color, he and his team take great pride in their work, which is evident in their final product.A Note on CurlingBecause Hart is so finely woven, moisture in the air can occasionally make its edges curl up. A simple solve for this is to bend back that corner of the rug so you can curl the edge in the opposite direction, rolling it into a little burrito back and forth until it lies flat. See what we mean here .Clean regularly with a non-rotary, low-powered vacuum. Do not use beater brush.Rotate your rug on occasion to ensure even wear over time.Keep away from excessive moisture.Do not dry clean or steam clean.Professional cleaning recommended as needed. In case of spills, use a paper towel or cloth to blot the liquid. Add some clean water sparingly to the spot to dilute the stain (or wet a paper towel or cloth) and blot gently, not vigorously. Check to make sure there’s no citrus in your soap before using; this could bleach your rug. Repeat this process until the stain is removed. If the stain is persistent, try using a mild detergent, or a mixture of 1:1 white vinegar and water. Repeat this process until the stain is removed.Keep away from excessive moisture as jute is very absorbent.
